I'm sure anybody who knows a little about boxing knows who Danny Williams is, wasn't ever really world level but well known domestically and famously beat Mike Tyson in 2004 (although Tyson was well past his best),then went on to fight Vitali Klitscho and then a few big domestic fights against people like Audley Harrison and Matt Skelton. Last half decent opponent was Derek Chisora in 2010, when he lost his British title at Upton Park.

Was obvious at this point that he'd had it, and he promised he was going to retire, but kept going. The BBBofC refused to hand him a license in 2012 and have refused to give him one ever since (detached retina).

In the last two and a half years he has been going all over the place fighting nobodies in any country who will give him a license and a purse, has lost 12 of his last 14 fights against people who can't win a fight themselves (e.g. lost to a boxer who had won 8 lost 45 in December),basically being used as fodder to boost records of journeymen or to given debutants moral boosting first-fight success.

Really sad state of affairs, he is 41 and obviously completely punch drunk - he is going to end up mentally and physically disabled I think, after every fight he says he is going to retire and a couple of months later he is back in the ring taking serious beatings. The bloke managed 8 rounds with Vitali a decade ago, but is taking serious beatings every couple of months at the minute, some licensed and some not.

Nothing anybody can actually do about this, the BBBofC can only refuse to issue a license to fight in the UK, he can fight abroad, and there is still nothing stopping him from fighting unlicensed in the UK (unlicensed boxing is not illegal). Just a shame that he doesn't seem to have the right people around him. Watched a couple of his recent fights on YouTube, made really uncomfortable viewing.

This interview was from a year ago, obviously punch drunk and he's had 11 fights since.... After every fight he says he's retiring, including the interview below. One year, 11 fights (9 defeats) later and he's still going.... he has been KO'd at least 7 times in 4 years.

Four years ago he was clearly a lot sharper....

Yeah, very sad.  In one of my all time favourite fights, he won the British title with a dislocated shoulder, knocking out his opponent in the 6th round (same round his shoulder gave out) and after beating Tyson I hoped he'd have a better crack at it - never quite seemed all there to me even before this, but this is really sad to see.  I guess he has no other kind of way to earn an income because there's nothing else that could be driving him to destruction like this.
