We haven't been particularly successful with Spanish players in the past have we?

Ayala, Segura, Miquel, Velasco.

Garrido has probably been the best of the lot, for his one mediocre season, Pacheco did score against the Scum I suppose.

He played 20 odd times for a team that finished 4th in Spain last season. Probably.
I think you mean Italy?

Garrido also finished 4th in Serie A with Lazio about a year before we signed him.

Played in the Champions League with Real Sociedad too, and UEFA cup and 5th in the Premier League with Man City.

He's actually got a really good CV, its a bit odd that we hardly played him in two seasons, generally did pretty well in his loan season. Perhaps he had a big appearance fee written into his contract.

I was just going to say that, CanaryBoy. He's at Fiorentina, I think.

Tbf Garrido in that first season was very good. I was very pleased when we signed him perminantly the next season. We then signed Olsson as well but Garrido was actually first choice at the beginning of that season. His performances I seem to remember were average, but nothing more. Hughton then started Olsson a few games later and he was excellent for that whole season, and Garrido wasn't able to win back his place in the team.

Can't say I've seen a lot of Alonso, not since he joined Fiorentina, but based on what I have seen and know he's good back-up for Olsson if nothing more. I would be disappointed though if we were signing him instead of Brady though. We need a proper left winger.

Remember the age difference between Garrido and Alonso. Also latter is more versatile and quite good in the air. Totally different style option for pacey and tricky Olsson. I also remember him from Castilla Where he was quite rated before departure to Bolton

Garridos biggest flaw was his speed Where Alonso can match most wide players.

I was very loyal to Garrido and didnt rate Olsson when we signed him. After Olsson got into his swing though it was clear he was simply the better player. But I liked Garrido and he was still a good player.

As we're talking about left backs, how good was Tierney in the first half of that season? Best player we had if you ask me. Such a shame he couldnt maintain that level of performance after his injury

Garrido was a neat little player, thought he'd have played a bit more last season tbh.
