Good player but I hope it's as well as Brady not instead of.

We're thin on the ground down our left side so I can't see much harm in it, would mean we could use Brady for his more natural attacking ability.

They're both at a good age and would instantly be able to offer Olsson and Johnson competition.

The EDP are saying we'll only go in for Alonso if we miss out on Brady.

Almost feels as if the club have planted this in the press.

Still, I do feel that we need 2 left sided players. Of course if Neil thinks Toffolo will play a part then we'd be fine with just Brady.

Alonso is a LB who can also play LM or CB as well (he's 6'2"). He played 35 time for Fiorentina last season in Serie A.

I never really rated him when he was at Bolton, but I saw a bit of him playing for Fiorentina last season (good ole BTSport) and he seemed a much better player there, whether it was playing with a higher calibre of player I dont really know, but he seemed to of stepped his game up

I agree. Although if we sign Brady is there any point in signing him?
Marcos Alonso is a left back who can do a job at left mid, whilst Robbie Brady is a left winger who can do a job at left back.

I'd be happy if we signed both a left back and a left winger personally. We've only got one left back if we assume that Toffolo isn't the required standard yet, and no left wingers.

Edit; Just realised I've pretty much just repeated what KieranShikiri said!

Sky Sports' Keith Downie with the first tweet. Don't know if he has any sort of real credibility but he is based in the north east so could have a connection from his time in Sunderland.

Someone on Twitter suggests a £2m bid. And also that we're looking at Barry Bannan

At 2mil he'd be a good addition to the overall squad, although I'm still not convinced that he's really good enough to start regularly (assuming someone was out long term),but at a quarter of what Hull are asking for Brady he appears MUCH better value for money as a pure cover option.

His stats from last season. Very much a rotation player but they trusted him enough to play in some big games.

I'd be happy if we got him for £2m. Although as I said in the other thread I don't really know why we're not targeting a proper left winger, as it's more of a priority in my mind than a back-up left back.

I think that's my major concern Keiran, he's very much a decent cover option rather than being a genuine improvement on what we have, and in truth I'd rather we gave someone like Toffolo a chance if we can't afford to get someone better than Olsson, instead of spending millions on a backup player to simply provide a cover option.

He's not a huge improvement but it makes sense for a Premier League team to have 2 good players in each position, does it not.

We're not going to find many players better than Olsson in his position.

He played 20 odd times for a team that finished 4th in Spain last season. Probably.
