Go Cheifs!!

Got into NFL after working for an American company (which I still do) and basically starting to follow it so I could participate in banter.

I must admit, I used to think it was a pretty stupid game. However, once I started watching it and getting into it I soon realised the errors of my ways. I also make a work trip to Kansas City every year, and always get to take in a game at Arrowhead (will be v Jets this year I think). Having been to a game at Wembley a few times, nothing compares to a proper US 'home' game. The tailgating. The banter. And the noise is just incredible!!

I've just treated myself to Sky tv, so I'm going to make more of an effort to watch and understand it better this year. I may start by learning positions other than quarter back, because at the moment it's "the running guy", "the catching guys" and of course "the fat blocking guys".
Do you have a playstation or Xbox?

If you want to learn more about the game, get any incarnation of Madden and play it a little bit. It's learning by participating.

Jets start their pre-season tonight.

Love that Norwich and the Jets start their season close together, life makes sense again.

Looking forward to seeing if Geno has learnt his lesson. NFL GamePass is one of the greatest investments I have ever made by the way, if people are on the fence about whether to get it.

Geno Smith has some great knowledge of the game.  He just needs some help around him to be successful.  A good QB can only do so much when he on the ground half of the time.

I think he will play better this year with Vick fighting for the starting spot as well.  Geno will put the Jets in contention for a wild card spot but I think they miss it by a game or two and go either 7-9 or 8-8.

Absolutely agree. I like the signing of Decker, and the drafting of Amaro. Now we have Kerley in the slot, and a couple of big TE targets in Amaro and Cumberland, we may be able to move the football. Also Stephen Hill is having a big camp so far, maybe this is the season he breaks out.

I'm going to say we go 9-7 and get a wild card spot and then anything can happen. I think of defense will keep us in most games, and then we just need to cut down on turnovers.

Turnovers are the killer for every team.  Geno will do better with that this year without a doubt and having a wider range of targets will help as well.  A running game would also take some of the weight off of Geno's shoulders.

I can agree with the 9-7 mark.  I just think it will take one more year for everything to fall in place, but I could be wrong.  We will just have to wait and see.  Tonight will be good to get the football juices running again, but won't show much for how the season will pan out.

We've got the Patriots tonight. Not expecting much as Garçon and maybe DeSean are injured. Will be good to see how our rebuilt defense stacks up against a decent offense though.

We've got the Vikings tomorrow, saw them at Wembley last year were pretty average to say the least

Yeah they were really poor, AP was the only positive for them, they just suffered from horrible QB play.

13-10 win for the Jets last night. Can't gain anything from that because Geno only threw the ball 6 times (with 4 completions) and most of our starters didn't even play out the first quarter.

Only problem was Chris Ivory picked up an injury but apparently he'll be fine. Role on game #3 where we get a true look at the starters.

I don't watch much NFL but would love to get in to it, most likely to follow the Chicago Bears, to carry on my little pattern of following American sports by supporting any team in Chicago haha! So come on Bulls, Bears and Blackhawks! :p

Do you think we could get enough to start an NFL Fantasy Football league?

I don't play Fantasy football for football (soccer). I find it a little bland. But FF for NFL is awesome.

You normally need about 12 to make it worthwhile. 10 can work too.

I would definitely be up for it, I usually do 2-3 leagues per year, but this year I'm only down for 1.
