Absolute bollocks Im afraid. He went to the White House to sign an agreement giving the yanks access to Ukraines future natural resources, I think asking how the Americans were going to a) stop this war and b) guarantee Putin won’t come back for another go in a few years is a perfectly valid question to ask considering what Ukraine is expected to hand over.
Vance banging on about diplomacy without ever articulating what he actually means by it and what agreements he expects to see just shows the utter emptiness of Americas foreign policy. It’s nothing but sound bites and empty rhetoric designed to appeal to
He went to the White house wanting American boots on the ground, which was never going to happen, what was actually on offer was the security of having American industrial assets and workers there, which in itself would act as a deterrent. I also think he has just got a bit too used to just turning up with his hand out, and folk throwing money at him. And as I said, he has put himself in a difficult situation now, because Europe does not have the money to bankroll his plan to try and defeat Russia. They are is a shit state, but I cannot see a scenario where Putin just gives up and goes home. In fact cornering a man like him, who is fully nuclear armed, does not seem too clever to me.
Most peoples opinion of how this went down is based on what they think of Trump, which I understand, he's a divisive figure, but what he is doing here is putting the American taxpayer first, something I have no issue with. Because, at the end of the day, whatever Russia does in Ukraine, is absolutely zero threat to America.
Yeah, Vance seems like a bit of an arsehole, but what I take from that is that he was telling Zelensky that they aren't the Biden administration and just going to throw money at him, for nothing in return, which seems reasonable.
Nobody came out of this looking good, but Zelensky had the most to lose here.
Even Ben Wallace got a bit sick of Zelensky constantly having his hand out
