Baseball

I used to follow it very closely being a Cubs fan. However that was when we were half decent with Wood, Pryor, Lee etc....not watched baseball in a good 3-4 years now though, takes a lot of time and commitment. At uni I could really dedicate the time to it, but now I just can't find the time to follow it like I would like. Still keep an eye on the standings from time to time.

Lone star, shouldn,t you be supporting the Astros ? They're off the bottom of their division for once and actually have a better record than my Redsox

Grew up in Kansas City... so nope.

Magic number is 19 after beating the Yankees today.  No help from the Giants tonight thus far as Detroit is up 3-0 in the 5th.

I should also add that I'm a Sooner alumnus, which isn't that rare or even dangerous in Texas (lots of us here),so most things longhorn related are abhorrent (Fort Worth's "Molly" mascot notwithstanding).

Oh man, what a game tonight!!! Royals-A's went 12 innings after KC came back from being down by four runs (and down a run in the 12th).  Royals get the L.A. Angels next.

First postseason game in KC in 29 years... wow. just.... wow.

Game finished just before 6AM UK time, so I don't imagine y'all watched it.

Checked my phone as I dozed this morning. I saw that Oakland got a run in the top if the 12th, and figured it was uphill from then on, and went back to sleep.

My facebook feed this morning from all my KC friends told me all I needed to know when I checked that mid-morning.

What a game!

That was a crazy game! After the 8th inning it always felt as if the Royals were going to win. At least that is what i felt.  17 runs in the opening game of the playoffs!  I personally will be rooting for the Royals to win it all.

I am on Cloud 9 right now...  Royals sweep the Angels by teasing them with two 11-inning games in Anaheim before blowing them out in KC.  Longballs by Hos and Moose... Billy "Country Breakfast" Butler, easily the slowest player in the majors, last night scores from first on a double, then later steals second base.  Pitching was decent.  Defense was outstanding.  This team could easily have 4-5 Gold Glovers this season (Perez, Gordon, Cain, Hosmer, and perhaps Moose).

The best thing about Game Three in KC was the Royals' bates took their manager out of the equation.  There was no chance to be Yosted.

Now we have the Orioles.  Meh, just another orange team for me to hate along with the Longhorns (OU-Texas is Saturday at the Cotton eBowla in Dallas) and OkieState...

Pitching usually wins over hitting.  I know it did in '85 when those whiny Redbirds fans couldn't get over the fact their team hit .185 in the WS...

Royals went extra innings again last night, and won with a pair of homers in the 10th... seven to go...

2-1 Royals win after a rainout Monday, and the Royals are a game from the World Series.  This makes ten straight postseason wins, seven this season and last three game from the 1985 World Series.

Pitching staff just dummied the Orioles tonight, retiring the last 16 and only allowing one runner on base in the last 22 plate appearances.  The Human/Death/Hydra of Herrera/Davis/Holland in the bullpen had a Fearsome in front, as Jason Frasor came in for the 6th after Jeremy Guthrie's pitch count got a little too high early.

Game 4 Wednesday is a 3PM local time start, 9PM in the UK (unless y'all have turned your clocks back already, I forget when you do).

I am on cloud nine.

I must say I am loving watching the Royals play like they are this postseason.  If they would have ranked the teams going into the playoffs, the Royals would have been dead last based on the so-called analysts.  I hope the Royals win today and make them eat crow, or I guess orioles in this case.

Oh there's a Crow on the Royals... reliever Aaron Crow, a former All-Star who's thankfully been left off the postseason roster thus far because he can't hit the broadside of a barn.

Streaming the game from my office.  Honestly I like the ESPN broadcast you guys get more than the TBS one we have here in the states.

2-0 Royals, bottom of the second...
